Our own award was into it's fifth
season, and this was the closest it had ever been. Previous years had seen the award won at a canter apart, from one
season where there was a two-way tie. This year though, there were a total of seventeen different players who had won the
man of the match vote at least once. The result went right down to the wire with five players tying on four votes and
a further three players just one vote behind that. However, cometh the hour-cometh the man. The very last qualifying match
for votes saw this player show his true class, and also get us out of a tight spot regarding the award too ! The BTF player
of the season, and the first player to win it twice was........TOM JONES ! Now if only he'd stayed for the award - still,
we're sure Marshie enjoyed his champagne !).
